Bath Tea Recipe

You have been working hard, so why not do something nice for yourself? Treat yourself to a natural bath. These bath tea recipes for floral and herbal "bath scents" will leave you soothed and scented.

You may collect your herbs and flowers in the countryside, grow them (our favorite choice) or purchase them from a variety of stores. A drive out to the country will yield most of the ingredients listed below from April through May depending on your part of the country. It is best to pick leaves and flowers after the dew has dried. You may either dry the flowers and leaves for future use or store "green" material in jars for 2 days.

Fresh Sweet Floral Bath Tea:

1 1/2 cup wild violet leaves and petals
1 1/2 cup dandelion leaves and petals

Fresh Berry Floral Bath Tea:

1 1/2 cup blackberry leaves
1 1/2 cup strawberry leaves
1 cup daisy flowers

Dried Flower Bath Tea:

1/2 cup chamomile
1 cup rosehips and/or rose petals
1 1/2 cup verbena

Dried Herbal Bath Tea:

1 cup mint
1 1/2 cups lavender
1/4 cup rosemary
1/4 cup sage

Instructions for use:

Shred or chop leaves if using fresh ingredients. Flowers and petals remain whole.
Place the herbs and flowers in a doubled cheesecloth square cut 10 by 10 inches. Secure with a string tightly at the top but leave the bag loose so the flowers can release their essence.
Boil Bath Tea for 15 min on the stove and then pour the mixture and bag into your bath water.

Relax and enjoy the pleasure of a subtle yet elegant floral fragrance.
